Pennywell Farm responsive web design

In 2006 our Digital Director Simon Farrow designed Pennywell Farm’s first website. Fast forward seven years and he was honoured to be asked to design it again!

Award-winning Devon attraction Pennywell Farm – famous for its micro pigs and hands-on farmyard fun – approached Drive Creative Studio to rebuild the eight year old website for a new generation of users who like their web content on much smaller, high-resolution screens.

The new responsive website is custom built from the ground up, featuring a unique easy to use bespoke content management system and a streamlined ticketing system. By making the website easier to update, Pennywell Farm will be able to upload new imagery, add videos, news and even pages whenever they like, using the ultra simple WYSIWYG system.

Simon’s original design had stood the test of time and with regular site updates it has served Pennywell for the past eight years, however the transition to a responsive design has been a real benefit. Pennywell Farm was already nearing 50% of their visitors viewing via tablet and mobile platforms, the previous site had made it difficult for these users to make a purchase and the site has now seen a huge increase in time spent on site and number of pages viewed per visit by these users.

Pennywell’s owner Chris Murray says, “It is very important to us to use local talent and Simon has really impressed us over the years, so much so that we think of him as an essential part of the Pennywell team.”
