Origin of creativity

Creativity can be nurtured in people susceptible to broader thinking and those ways of thinking can be taught. Whether they lead to a ‘Eureka!’ moment is a sum of many conscious and subconscious factors:

  • Your life experience
  • Your exterior influences (media, culture, authority)
  • Your likes and dislikes
  • Your fixed opinions or those of others
  • Your aesthetic tastes or artistic ‘eye’
  • Your learned comfort and discomfort zones
  • Your knowledge of the world

The origin of creativity in an individual therefore lies somewhere within a mix of environmental, cultural, psychological and social factors, some of which are more apparent than others. It’s these factors that define you as an individual and make your creative mind wonderfully unique. Or maybe Google’s image recognising robots have the answer…
