In 2021 The Genealogy Show went virtual, and Drive was enlisted to spearhead the website design, illustration and build – delivering on time and on budget.

TGS was previously held at the Birmingham NEC, but the virtual event setting had no bounds to the imagination. Taking a lead from the logo’s family tree motif, we placed the virtual event within an enchanted forest, with exhibitors each having a virtual abode nestled within the woodland scene.

The ticketed show featured various zones and a variety of content, which included live presentations and web chats, news, blogs, on-demand videos, guides and facts about all things genealogy, an interactive forest map of tiered exhibitor stands, speaker talks, one-to-one virtual consultations, community areas, forums, a guest book and gift shop. The website also featured subtle ambient music and animations, and all the content was easily updatable by the exhibition team.

As navigation was innovative and unusual in some sections, animated introductions were produced to welcome users to the various exhibition zones, guiding them through the interactive functionality.
